Bacillus subtilis (Si-Bs) mobilises insoluble silica from soil minerals into plant-available silicic acid. Silicon is increasingly recognised as a quasi-essential nutrient — it strengthens cell walls, improves stem rigidity (prevents lodging), enhances resistance to blast, sheath blight and stem borers, and improves photosynthetic efficiency in rice and wheat by 15–20%.
